I've always loved the idea of being a mentor and leader. My passion for children having positive influence(s), education, understanding and physical and nutritional health is what drives me to be a child care giver today. I would love to one day have a childcare center of my own that focuses on providing those necessities for a happy balanced life and future. Summers 2009-2013: I worked with children ages 6-12 as a camp counselor, and eventually, Head Counselor. August 2009- May 2014: I started in the Elementary Education program at Butler University. October 2012-February 2014: Teaching Assistant at Children of America. I learned that Early Childhood was my calling. Here, I learned about state regulations, CPR/First Aid, safety hazards, food handling, potty training, implementing preschool level academics, parent/teacher communication and more. As a floating assistant, I worked with ages 6 months - 12 years of age. I loved my job, Read more it's duties, and knowing every child in the school, but I was unsatisfied with the organization of the administrators. March 2014: I started as an Assistant Teacher in the two's room at The Goddard school and landed the Lead Teacher position in May 2014 once I earned my degree. As a lead, learning to prepare lesson plans for 2-year-olds, finding positive strategies for discipline, using other teachers/administrators as resources, and analyzing/documenting progress was added to my list of knowledge in childcare. August 2014: I moved here to Rochester, Michigan with family. October 2014: I started as an Assistant Teacher in in the two's classroom to learn the school. I was able to work full time as the Infant Room Lead starting January 2015. Again, I LOVED the position, but the class grew from 7 infants, to 12-14 infants. Without assistants that were consistent in their duties, running a room full of infants became a draining experience. September 2015: I took a break from my 6 years with children and became a retail manager to learn how to run business. I was successful in many leadership and customer service skills, but it was not the right environment for me. I would love to get back to my passion -- being a fulfilling, loving and memorable mentor for young children. I love cooking, the outdoors, and art. If you are a family that appreciates the importance of health, play and creativity, I hope to hear from you soon!
