Hi, I'm Melissa! I have lots of experience working with children and families in a professional setting. As a teenager, I babysat and was an assistant dance teacher. In college I earned my degree in Human Development and Family Studies with a minor in American Sign Language. I graduated from college with honors. After college, I worked for 1 year as a foster care case manager. After this, I worked in the infant room at a daycare for 2 and a half years. I was mostly in the younger infant room with children 2-9 months old, but I also worked in the older infant room with children 10-18 months old. After this, I was a nanny for 1 year. The child was 5 months old when I started and 14 months old when the family relocated to another state. After this, I spent 4 years as an adoption caseworker for Read more children in Michigan's foster care system and completed 61 children's adoptions in the Metro Detroit area. In April 2024, I decided that I needed a break from child welfare. I'm trying to figure out where my professional life is heading, but I very much enjoyed working in the infant room at the daycare and being a nanny. Children under 18 months old are my favorite! There is so much to do with babies that people don't always realize. Such as, reading books, art, singing songs, sensory / water play, spending time outside, and teaching them sign language. Letters of recommendation from the previous nanny family, the adoption child welfare center, and testimonials of the daycare parents can be provided upon request. I have reliable transportation and my Chauffeur's license. I am certified in infant safe sleep and infant CPR. I would prefer a position that is part time and falls in the hours of Monday through Friday 9am-5pm. Would occasionally do a Friday or Saturday, but not regularly. I would prefer to only work with children under 24 months old and not need to transport older siblings around. Would prefer one child or twins but would work with a child over 2 years old (sibling of an infant) if the pay is right. I just prefer and am best with the little ones. Cash preferred.
