I've worked as a nanny for the past three years with children aged 10 months to 7 years old. I have a BS in Bioengineering and briefly worked as a software developer, but found my passion working with children and intend to continue my career in this field. My past employers have most appreciated my professionalism, use of education-oriented activities, knowledge of child development, and work ethic. Of course I also delight in all the silly moments and fun times during which I connect with the children I work with. I have over 60 hours of child development training through the Michigan government and am currently completing the NAMC Montessori course for children 0-3. My duties in past roles have included housekeeping (responsible for all cleaning in a 6000 square foot home), cooking meals for the whole family, delivering reports on development progress, and of course coming up with developmental Read more activities. The girl I currently work with has shown tremendous growth across all ASQ testing areas, learned many Japanese vocabulary words (I speak Japanese and German), learned to ride a bike without training wheels, begun to read and spell words, learned addition and subtraction, and so much more. I have been with my current employer for 1.5 years. Since their company is very generous with maternity/paternity leave, they have decided to take over all childcare themselves for the first 6 months after their second daughter is born (due in early May). They have informed me that they will be letting me go and would happily act as a reference.
