Hello, my name is Sabrina! I have my Bachelor's of Science in Dental Hygiene through Metropolitan State University and a certification in Basic Life Support (CPR and AED) for The Healthcare Provider through the American Heart Association. I am required to renew it every two years to keep my Dental Hygiene License active. I have two years of experience working as a Direct Support Professional. I first worked at a group home for individuals with Borderline Personality Disorder, then in assisted living with the elderly. My most recent role was as a "Community Support Specialist" coaching adults toward the development of independent living skills in such areas as household maintenance and job retention. I utilized my communication skills acquired in my public speaking and interpersonal communications classes to better deescalate tense situations and aid people served to maintain their sense of independence, yet guide them toward healthier decisions. At these Read more roles, I also prepared meals, administered medications of various routes, checked vitals, and did housekeeping. I pride myself on my compassion and strong work ethic. I feel a sense of accomplishment when I know the people I am caring for are well taken care of and are achieving their goals. I grew up helping my parents with my younger sister. When I was growing up, I'd love helping my parents take care of her. Whether it be changing her diapers, feeding her, or keeping her busy and learning- I was happy to be around her and helping. Whenever my aunt is in need of childcare for her now 25 month old daughter, I am overjoyed to look after her. In addition to finding simply joy in providing childcare, I feel a sense of responsibility toward helping upcoming generations grow up happy and healthy, with their own sense of responsibility for themselves and those around them.
