Hello! My name is Eleanor Oakman. I have been in childcare and education for over seven years. I am currently a pre-kindergarten teacher and adore working with young and elementary-age children. I am a student at Saint Catherine University as a social work major. I chose a path of social work because I believe my purpose in life is to help children and families during difficult times in their lives. Another reason is that I have a passion for social justice which is a substantial value in the social work field. My experience in childcare includes a variety of schools and a diversity of specific needs from children. I have worked for two years in preschools as a lead teacher and a teaching-aid for ages ranging from infancy to 5 years. Previously, I worked in elementary schools across the Eagan area, working in before/after school daycare, with grades ranging from Read more kindergarten to 5th. I have worked in school-age summer programs leading children and staff on daily field trips across the twin cities. Other experience includes tutoring for non-English speaking children in Costa Rica and volunteer teacher-aid at inner-city public schools in Minneapolis. I have taught and cared for children with special needs such as autism, physical disabilities, and learning disabilities. I also have advanced knowledge in nutrition and adolescent mental illnesses. My current certifications include first aid, CPR, and car seat training. I look forward to having more personal relationships with individual families through nannying!
