Hello, my name is Grace! My husband Luke and I just moved to Minneapolis in May. While I was born and raised in California, my husband was born here in the Twin Cities and after spending some time here together I was also hooked and we knew we wanted to build our life together here in Minneapolis. We live one block from Lake Harriet and while our family currently consists of our pup, Lou, and our two cats, Quincey and Tolo, we hope to add a little one to our family in the next few years! I love to sing and write lyrics, experiment in the kitchen with healthy meals, and I can often be found rollerblading around Lake Harriet. Above all, I enjoy spending time with my husband and pets. I have always been passionate about taking care of little ones; when my mother volunteered at the YMCA in Read more the kids center throughout my childhood, I would always eagerly ask to go with her. I remember being 11 years old and holding babies thinking, "I can't believe I have to wait SO long for this!" Now as a 28-year-old woman, I laugh at that memory and think, "I'll enjoy my free time for another year or three!" I have been babysitting since I was 12 years old. While I have no children of my own just yet, I have years of experience caring for newborns to children up to 15. As a proud aunt to my precious niece and nephew, I have learned just how effective singing, "Let it Go" can be during a tantrum, or how boxes can be just as exciting as the gift that is in them to a 9-month-old. I care deeply for childrens' safety and wellbeing and will spend my time with them doing interactive activities. If you are working on certain behaviors with your child/children, I will do my part while caring for them to help build those habits. If your child has special needs, I do have experience working with children and adults with developmental disorders. I want to be fully transparent that the experience I have in developmental disorders is with children ages 4 and up. I am patient, invested, and I truly understand the anxiety around trusting a sitter with your child. I taught English as a Foreign Language in Suphanburi, Thailand, and worked both one-on-one and in classrooms with children who were diagnosed with autism. While we didn't speak the same language, and I had no interpreter, I learned how effective different learning styles can be to kids. I learned how to teach colors and shapes using organizational games, how to teach the alphabet with musical games, and how to notice the signs that a child was being overstimulated and just needed a break. I currently have full availability! I know this is a stressful process and am more than happy to meet you face to face and get to know you and your family before babysitting begins. Thank you for reading my profile, looking forward to meeting you soon!
