I am a very friendly and positive individual who has always loved working with children and helping them grow. I ran a business for years which made me very professional and organized. I grew up in a very large family and started out babysitting for my cousins and neighborhood children all the time. I am six years older than my sister so I helped to raise her since my mom was a single mother. My growing love for kids led me to volunteer in the nursery at my church a couple times a month. When I finally reached the age where I was able to get a real job, I found a summer job through a nonprofit organization called NYFS working as a junior counselor for a day camp for children ages 5-12. We provided the children with activities to keep them busy while they were out of school for Read more the summer. There was a broad range of activities including: arts and crafts, physical sports, water games, team building activities, theater (we had the kids do a scripted dance to Thriller for their parents), and weekly field trips. This was a very rewarding and enjoyable job so I worked here two summers in a row and got to see most of the same children one year older! After that time ended I searched for another job where I could work with children and landed a job at LA Fitness in the KidsKlub as a babysitter (ages of children ranged from 3 months-8 years old). I worked at LA Fitness for almost exactly a year (5 days a week). Most of the children that I watched on a weekly basis were there a couple times a week. It was amazing to watch the regulars grow and learn over the course of the year. I was often given more children than any one person can handle alone. Since the parents were in the building, there was no legal restrictions for child to adult ratios. The job was very rewarding but I was offered a raise at my second job and could no longer juggle both jobs. I am now the mother of a beautiful 11 month old boy and I am currently looking for a job that I love and enjoy, that doesn't occupy all of the time that I could potentially have watching my son grow. Daycare is set up and available for my son in case I am offered a job which he is unable to come along to. I have been CPR certified twice and being as I was the General Manager at a food establishment, I am also ServSafe certified.
