I was born into a family of ten children; three of my siblings had various health issues, so I have a lot of experience as a care giver. I began college right out of high school, and when I was a senior majoring in Elementary Education and Special Education major, my mother became terminally ill. I quit college for a time to assist in her care. My then finance’ and I moved our wedding date up three separate times, so my mother could attend the wedding. I promised her before she passed away that I would go back and finish my degree. It took me twenty years and by then I had six children, but I finished my degree. I now hold a degree in Human Services with a minor in Psychology. I even made the Dean’s list for the three semesters it took for me to finish my degree. Read more My father was abusive, and when my husband and I got married, after our first child was born, I had six miscarriages and was not able to have any more children. We still wanted more children, and adopted five children who had also been abused and or neglected. They have all graduated from high school and are on their own. I have always had a passion for children and have been a youth group leader at church, a Sunday school teacher, and assist with various children's activities. I have also been a den mother for Cub Scouts, and Boy Scouts, a camp director for Boy scouts, a cabin mom for church camp for several years. I have also been a member of a parent advisory board for a school district; I have also been involved with two separate groups that focus on children who come from lower socio-economic families and some of the issues that are often associated with children in this category. Education and training is something I am willing to pursue, and even though I have a college degree, I am very open to obtaining trainings that would help me become a successful Nanny. I am a mandated reported for the state of Missouri meaning that I have a clean criminal background and that if I suspect any type of abuse or neglect to any child or other person, I am mandated by law to report the situation. I have reported situations in the past, and the abuse/neglect has been substantiated. I currently work for the state of Missouri for the Department of Mental Health as a Self-Directed Support Coordinator. The individuals I work with all have a developmental disability of some sort and require personal attendants to assist with their daily activities. By self-directing their services
