Hi! My name is Terri. I'm 22 years old, and I'm originally from Mississippi but I'm moving to the NYC area soon for school. I recently graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi, and my time spent there consisted of heavy research based course work yet I found a way to keep two jobs during my full-time status as a student. Sitting was initially voluntary when friends of mine would need nights out for themselves or when family needed relief, but it turned into a 2nd part time job of mine that I ended up loving. Rather than coming across families that needed a sitter to "fill in" for their children while they were gone, I often found myself sitting for families that simply needed a personal reset, and I was very happy to accompany them in that relief or necessary break to adjust in an ever-changing society that calls Read more on the more-than-full attention of adults in the working world. Which made me realize it was more than just a "fill in" role - I was advocating for someone's mental health so that when my time was done, they were ready to fully tend to their child's needs without heavy mental health concerns clouding over them. There's much reward in knowing that. And, if I can put it plainly, it's a fun and heartwarming job to have.
