I am currently a preschool STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) teacher at a private preschool and have been for the last 9 months. I teach children ages two through six but fill in for classes ranging from six months to twelve years old. Before this position I was a nanny for a family with two little girls. When I started, the girls were nine months and four years. When I made the decision to work at a preschool the girls were nearly two and six. I was responsible for changing diapers, meals and bottles, safety and entertainment. I worked in the family’s house from the time the baby woke up until dinnertime when the parents were off work. I began my career working with children when I became a mothers helper when I was 13. I worked in a house while the mother was present and from there I branched Read more out and began babysitting for children of all ages. I became a caregiver because of my love of children. Not only can I take care of them and teach them, but they can also teach me new things everyday. The imagination of each individual child is so fun and different from others. That makes the job so incredibly exciting. With each new thing that the children learn, the relationship between child and caregiver grows stronger. I love my job because I love children. I love their imagination and their innocence. They grow so much each day with each new accomplishment they achieve. I love being able to not only watch children grow, but I love being able to make even a small difference in someone’s life. I believe I am good at my current job and was as a nanny because of how much I care. I work with children because I love kids. I love being able to watch them grow and watch their excitement when they accomplish something new. I put a lot of effort into working with children and making sure they are happy and healthy.
