I am truly passionate about nannying and have hopes to spend my life as a career nanny. My ultimate goal when I am working is to ensure children feel seen, valued, and understood, especially when they are experiencing strong emotions or if we disagree. My greatest strength as a nanny is the patience to effectively communicate with children. I am not a “because I said so” caregiver; it’s important to me that I acknowledge children’s feelings and then at least try to convey my reasoning in a way that will make sense to them. It doesn’t necessarily always convince them to agree with me, but I think kids (even little ones!) feel more respected when their objections are acknowledged. Establishing mutual respect between myself and the child by never discounting their feelings, frustrations, or confusion helps me be the best nanny I can be!
