Hello! My name is Natasha Blackmon. I am a mother of two beautiful children aged 3 years old and 1 year old. My toddler has exceptionalities which prompted me to learn more about child development as well as guidance strategies. Prior to enrolling in CPCC I work diligently as a Certified Nurse Assistant for almost 11 years. During my time as a CNA I worked with both pediatrics and geriatrics. I’ve been working for Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools with the After School Enrichment Program for 3 years now. I truly enjoy serving my community. My experiences in the field of Early Childhood include working as a nanny as well as raising my own children. In practicum I hope to learn different approaches to interaction with children and families. Practicum will teach me the appropriate way to effectively communicate with children and families of various cultural backgrounds. My professional goal is to Read more open a community involvement center. I am a huge advocate for children and families. I would like to be active in my community providing assistance in any way I possibly can. My center would have a study room, a gym, cafeteria, game room, social/ relaxation room, outdoor play areas, a sensory room and a garden. The center will be equipped with tools needed to complete homework and project assignments, food for those in need, judgment free area, and trustworthy knowledgeable staff whom enjoy their calling to be advocates for children. If you were to ask my friends or family about me, they would say that I am strong-willed and determined. My strengths are my compassion, advocacy, I am a hard worker, and I genuinely care about others.
