Hello! My name is Jamie Bates. My preferred name is Glory :) I recently started working on a degree in sociology at Central Piedmont Community College with plans to transfer to a 4 year university in the next 2 years. I have been caring for children professionally for 8+ years not to mention baby sitting for others as a teen. My professional career began at 18 when I decided I wasn’t ready to go away to school. My mother’s best friend had a child with some behavioral and mental health problems and they were labeled a “problem child” by the agency. The household was becoming difficult to staff because of the child’s bad reputation and the mother reached out to me to work for the agency because I was their babysitter for a few years. I stepped into their home and worked with the child until I moved away from Read more the area :) I have worked with children ranging from infancy to young adulthood. I have worked with both individuals with special needs and neurotypical children in the last decade. I briefly worked as a behavior technician in 2019 before realizing that I prefer caring for children as a whole as opposed to focusing on the behavior aspect. I do apply the knowledge that I learned regarding the functions of behavior and the psychology aspects of caring for individuals from varying abilities. I consider working with children a passion of mine. I love assisting in development no matter how fast or slow. I enjoy doing crafts and spending time outdoors in pools and parks with kids and pets. I also enjoy reading and hanging out indoors during subpar weather. I am on sittercity seeking short-term and long-term work with a great family :)
