Hi, my name is Lori and I have been in your shoes and I know how very critical it is to find just the right person to care for your child, so let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am a proud Veteran of the U.S. Air Force (6 years), a retired Postmaster with the U.S. Postal Service (21 years), a wife, a mother of three (a set of twins + 1), a Dog Mom to a spoiled Pom-chi named Carly, and a Mema to 8 beautiful grand children. I love eating healthy, camping, hiking, working out, volunteering with my church's children's ministries (toddler Sunday school, infant nursery, youth age ministry outreach chaperone, vacation bible school, etc.), hanging out with family and kicking around with them at the park on a Saturday afternoon is the perfect day! So...you may be wondering why am I applying for a sitter/nanny position??? Well...for the last 40 years I have raised my children, helped raise my niece, and I also left my career when it was time for my Grand children to come along so I could help my children. The time has come where all but one are now in school, so once again the "feathers of the nest are empty". I would love to bring empathy, compassion, planning of age appropriate educational activities to your child while also foremost bringing a safety commitment as he begins to explore all his new first. There is something so special about seeing a child when they take their very first steps, or learn to ride their bike without their training wheels for the very first time or watching their faces as you are animating story time! Maybe this is the REAL reason why I'm applying, its that feeling from a child that you just can't get from anyone else. Having twins, 3 children (all in diapers at once) was my greatest blessing, (although I didn't see it at the time) because it gave me the gift of master multi-tasker which in turn carried over to my careers and would years later become my greatest strength. As your child changes, so will the days.. walks and fresh air are a must, story time as well, play days at the park..which by the way I will not be the sitter engaged on the bench with their cell phone, I will be the one that is sliding down the slide WITH your child as we are laughing the loudest! My journey to taking care of kids started when I was 9yrs old. A close friend to my family "Aunt Lisa" gave birth to her first born. At the age of 9 I knew that I loved children and enjoyed caring for them! When I was 11 yrs old my mom & Aunt Lisa encouraged me to take the Babysitter Course at American Red Cross. I did & I became certified Babysitter. My first babysitting experience happened when I was 12. My Aunt Lisa & her husband would go out every Wednesday night. They asked me to babysit their daughter & baby boy. Some families found out that I was babysitting Aunt Lisa's children that they began to ask her if it would be okay if they dropped off their kids at her house so I could babysit them too. From just taking care of 2 children it quickly turned into 4. Wednesday night for about 2yrs was FUN and GREAT experience for me as a new babysitter! 14yrs old my neighbor knew that I babysat & wanted me to care for their first born part time. I began babysitting their daughter several days out of the week for about 3yrs until their second child was born. When their daughter was getting close to Preschool age the days out of the week became less and less until she started Preschool and their son started Daycare. A new chapter of my journey of taking care of kids began when I was 17. My mom was a nanny for a mother & her two boys -full time. I would go with her to get some experience of what the nanny life was like since I wasn't of age to be a nanny myself. I enjoyed being the assistant nanny! When I turned 18, I purchased my own vehicle & my mom talked it over with the boy's mother to see if she was comfortable with allowing me to take over as the boy's part time nanny. June of 2016 my nanny job with the boys ended due to them moving.
