Hi my name is Rochelle! I have worked with children of all ages from birth through school age over the past 13 years. I began my journey as an after-school teacher with Charlotte Mecklenburg School System. Afterwards, I received my North Carolina credentials for Early Childhood, qualifying me as a Lead Teacher in the classroom setting. I then continued working in the Early Childhood field with a large childcare center chain for several years in the infant/toddler and preschool classrooms. After working in a childcare facility, I wanted to focus my attention and utilize my skills in smaller and more personalized environment. As an educator my desire became to provide a more individualized setting for children and families who wanted to foster growth and learning in their home environment. So my next venture was to become a full time nanny. For the past three years, I have nannied for newborns, Read more preschoolers and school aged children. In doing this not only have I had the opportunity to teach children in their home but create learning opportunities in their communities by participating in story times at local libraries and book stores, maintaining a schedule of various activities such as sports an small groups (girl scouts, etc.) and utilizing the various skills I have learned through my teaching experiences over the years! My philosophy in teaching covers the scope that children learn through play including direct and unintentional teaching opportunities. I feel that Early Education creates a strong foundation for a child’s academic career. This should be done by meeting each child on their level and creating developmentally appropriate activities the promote growth. In promoting a combination of conventional and unconventional methods of teaching such as utilizing flashcards, iPads, art, etc. a child is given the tools to assist in building their academic confidence which will benefit them through adulthood. In addition to my classroom experience, I am CPR/First Aid certified. I have training in Its SIDS, Shaken Baby Syndrome, BSAC (Basic School Age Care), etc. I am also able to provide transportation to and from activities.
