My name is Shaquana Aikens and I am a 24 year old bilingual educator and mother from Raleigh, NC. I have studied Spanish and worked with children about all my life for the past ten plus years. I attend Winston Salem State University where I study Spanish and deaf studies. During my time as a scholar at WSSU I have worked with scholars of all ages in different states as well as studied abroad and worked in foreign countries teaching students English etc. While I am fluent in Spanish (able to read, speak and write) I am still learning everyday and try to incorporate the language and culture into my everyday life. Upon returning to the United States I have worked in early childhood education centers where I continue to live by the motto that everybody deserves access to education and higher learning.
