I just finished my twelfth year as a full-time teacher, but it was my 17th year working in education. Throughout my teaching career, I have taught all grade levels from preschool to high school. However, I especially enjoy working with elementary students from diverse backgrounds and have spent the last 10 years working with first and second grade. I believe that childhood is a gift and that all children need a rich learning environment in order to thrive. Students do well when routines are predictable and established, and when they feel connected to their learning environment. I continued teaching during the stay-at-home orders, but also was a nanny for one child whose parents worked at the medical center. I enjoyed the predictable pace and working closely with one family.
