Hi everyone, I’m Kaylene! I am 19 years old and currently a junior at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I am a pre-health student studying forensic biology with a minor in psychology. I am from a large family. My older brother is 21, my younger sister is 11, and my youngest sister is 1. Both my parents work, so caretaking has become second nature to me. I have experience babysitting my youngest sister from 3-6 months old over the summer for about 5-12 hours each day. This has allowed me to gain skills such as diaper changing, feeding, comforting, and patience. I have also taken care of my middle sister for several years. From helping with potty training to homework and social skills. I am also experienced with school pick up/drop off and running errands with several children. I also have experience with toddler age children as I take care of Read more my 3 year old nephew for about 8 hours on weekends. My nephew is autistic which has helped me understand nonverbal cues, develop my defusing skills, and overall be better help for those with disabilities. I have 5 cats and love to work with animals! I am CPR, AED, and First-Aid certified with the Red Cross. I am also fluent in both English and Spanish. In my free time I enjoy reading, listening to music, watching movies, and exercising (yoga, barre, cycle, pilates, weightlifting, long walks). I volunteer at the Red Cross as a medical screener. I am also a peer mentor for high school to first year college students through a scholarship program at UNL focused on supporting first-gen, low income, minority students.
