am a compassionate individual.I am currently working at the Arc part time. I have gained patience and the ability to smile all the time. My skills include being a good listener, as well as giving attention to people who need it, which is essential when working with youth. I have worked at the Hillsborough YMCA. During my time at the Y I was able to connect with the parents. I listened to the concerns of the parents and brought forth any concerns to the director. I also told the parent about the kid which gave the parent something to talk about because they had not seen their child all day. I also was able to give the children the chance to be heard. I have also gained the trust of the children and they were able to tell me information they were not able to tell the other counselors. In the past, I have taken classes on conflict resolution. When I lived in Buffalo I volunteered at inner city schools-leading groups on grief, social skills, and study skills. Also I volunteered at Head Start and worked with a child who needed extra attention.
