I am currently a graduate student in a dual degree masters program studying child development and social work. While here studying for my masters I work with children ages 4 through 8-years-old as a classroom assistant. The summer prior to graduate school (summer 2016) I was a camp counselor for Headfirst Summer Camp where I was responsible for 12 campers ages 5 and 6 (in partnership with a co-counselor) for the camp day. My responsibilities as a day camp counselor ranged from supervising the campers during camp activities (swimming, sports, art, and science) to keeping track of medical conditions and allergies to being aware of knowing what campers could not be photographed for the camp blog. I was also a bus counselor responsible for checking in campers and assuring their safety as we traveled to camp; the children on the bus ranged from age 4 to 13. Outside of my Read more academics I work as a preschool teaching assistant for a classroom of 15 children ages 3 to 5. My experience in childcare is not consistent as I have been in school for most of my life and given various internships and summer jobs to gain experience in various fields. My previous instances of documented childcare experience before Headfirst was in the summers of 2008 through 2010. I worked as a summer worker for Tri-City Peoples Corp (2008 and 2009) which is a case management corporation. I was responsible for supervising visitation between foster children and their biological parents in addition to scheduling visits. The corporation also had a daycare that I worked at often. The daycare was for about ages 5 months to 4 years. My main placement was in the infant room. During the summer of 2010 I worked at a summer camp for the Salvation Army. Although the camp age range was 4 months to 12-years-old my main responsibility was to care for the 4 month old infant. Outside of documented work with children I have babysat for friends and family on multiple occasions throughout my life. I have always been passionate about working with children and their presence brings me such great joy! As an aspiring child and family social worker my goal is to ensure that children are happy and healthy! I am also CPR certified.
