I am a friendly, nurturing, and passionate caregiver. I have always loved working with children. Being able to work with children and knowing that I can make an impact in their lives makes me love what I do and what I will be doing in the future! I am currently in college (out in West Virginia) pursuing a major in Elementary Education and a minor in Special Education. Through placement at Elementary schools, I have worked with a variety of general education and special education students. I have babysat children from birth through 11 years old. Before 2013, I occasionally kept my neighbors' children for date nights. From January - May 2013, I took care of a newborn girl. In summer 2013, I have watched two boys with Autism. In summer 2014, I did date night sitting for two families. I have watched a 60-year-old man with Down syndrome and Read more another family with an 18-month-old boy. For the duration of that summer, I have watched two children, a 5-year-old girl and an 8-month-old boy during the day. This past summer I watched a 5-year-old girl and 2-year-old boy and continued dare night care for the man with Down syndrome. While I am at school, I watch two girls, ages 8 and 2, for date nights. I love arts and crafts! I enjoy going to craft stores to look for a new project. Music is one of my passions. I play guitar, ukulele, and I sing! I have brought my ukulele to work before which has always been fun! I love sports and being outdoors. I played sports all throughout high school. While at college I play ultimate Frisbee, slow pitch softball, and go for walks on the campus trails. I love playing games! From board games to hide and seek they can always put a smile on my face! I think imaginary play is extremely important. It causes children to use their creativity and think outside the box! I love to read. I especially love reading to children. I can do a number of accents and funny voices which I like to use when reading to make them laugh! I think my love for all of these things makes me a well rounded person which translates to the care I give. I am teaching myself sign language so I will have one more way to communicate with young children. I will be getting my CPR and First Aid training within the first two weeks of returning home from school.
