Meet Sophia

• Comfortable with pets

Starting at 12 years old, I began to babysit after becoming a red-cross certified babysitter. I love children, and it has always seemed that children love me too! As I got older I began to take on more long-term commitments with children, transitioning into a nanny. Through these experiences I have truly developed a passion and love for being a nanny. It is such a privilege to be able to develop a caring relationship with a child over a period of time: being able to watch them grow and develop, and taking part in such progress. There are certainly periods of time where I was unable to incorporate being a nanny into my life, but being home from college (The Pennsylvania State University) for the summer has given me the opportunity to once again take on my favourite title. I am a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, maintaining above a 3.75 GPA, and making dean's list. This academic success, as well having been a tutor in the past, makes me qualified to help kids with their homework, as well as tutor in certain subjects, and above all I believe educational fun is the best kind of fun. Beyond academia, I am a participant in many clubs and organizations, a lover of the outdoors and all sports, and a very health-conscious long-time vegan. I have a lot of cooking experience, as well, and can make delicious and healthy meals and snacks. Also, one of my greatest passions is creative expression. I love arts and crafts, scrapbooking, knitting, and sewing, and am a strong believer that life is always better with a little bit of glitter. Most importantly, though, I am fiercely protective and conscious of what is best emotionally, physically, and mentally for the children in my care. Though I am from New Jersey, I spend a major portion of my time in the city and know NYC like the back of my hand. I am comfortable walking it, and I also know the subway system very well. Wherever your kids need to go, they will get there on-time with me! As I already mentioned I am red-cross certified. I also have been CPR certified twice in the past. The certification expires every two years, and I have not renewed mine in longer, but I absolutely can for a position.
