We hired Anitra to take care of our 2 kids in November 2020. She was very quiet, listening and attentive and we really liked her. Everything was going well for about a month. After that, she missed several days of work. She was sick (or at least that's what she claimed) but she also had several "appointments" (no clear reason was given what the appointment was for). We got her presents, balloons and gifts for her birthday and sent her home so she can celebrate with her family. The morning after her birthday, she didn't show up and we kept calling her and she finally answered saying that she overslept and was on her way, made it to work at 11 am (vs 9 am start time). Another time, her boyfriend was in a car accident (the day before) and he was not hurt. But she was out of work all day saying that she was helping him out getting his car back. She also never showed up at 9 am, she was always a few minutes to 10-15 minutes late everyday, we never said anything about it because we liked her. Throughout all these absences, we paid her full salary even though sometimes she only worked 2 out of 5 days. Eventually, on Sunday, out of nowhere, she said she's giving her 2 weeks notice. Then we texted her back asking what happened and if we can talk, she didn't answer. And on Monday, she just didn't show up. We called her and texted her and no answer. Even though she gave a "2 weeks notice", she just chose not to show up at all. We're very disappointed with her behavior, especially given we really liked her. She claims to be "punctual and reliable", and she's neither of those. Potential families should be aware of that so no one else goes through this. Also, this is very unprofessional and unacceptable. I hope Sittercity can do something about this to warn the next family.
