A lifelong resident of Piscataway NJ, Amber is a trusted and resourceful member of the child care community. Amber’s path to becoming a child care professional is far from traditional. As motherhood became Amber’s reality, she decided to change her focus. Amber read every book, volunteered care for other children and leveraged the knowledge of her family of educators to ensure she would pour every ounce of her energy into becoming the best child care provider she could. Amber began to read to her then unborn child in the womb, focused on a plant-based diet and committed to engaging in the most stress-free practices to ensure she deliver a healthy, engaged and energetic child. On January 18th, baby Mariyah was born! Amber became focused on developing this bundle of joy with all the best practices. Almost out of the womb, Amber would read to Mariyah twice daily. Amber began to work part-time at a child care facility serving infants (0 – 2). There she kept babies clean, feeding them and supervising tummy-time, a key time for physical development of a child’s gross motor skills. Amber is currently serving 3 – 4 year olds as a full time staff member. She is responsible for teaching concepts and life skills, basic communication skills and creative curriculum. Amber’s “Learn through Play” curriculum ensures that social, behavioral and academic skills are enhance through a method not unlike Reggio Emilia. Her training in experiential learning and relationship-driven environments is based upon the principles of respect, responsibility and community through exploration, discovery and play.
