Hi, you’ve stumbled across my profile! My name is Kathleen, I’m 24 years old. I have worked in childcare for a very long time. Although my most recent job was not in caregiving I have worked anywhere from daycare, summer camps, before/ aftercare (YMCA), babysitting at the gym while parents worked out (YMCA), babysitting, and being a nanny. I have 5 years of paid experience in this field. My first job working with kids was when i was 18 years old. One of the reasons I love what I do is because I feel important. I feel I can actually change lives and make a real impact, not only in this field but in the world. We should all want the new generation to be even better than the last, to create a more peaceful world. It takes a special heart to be able to do this. It requires kindness, Read more compassion, thinking outside of the box, and a lot of patience. I will also say it’s a very rewarding job. As a sitter, i helped with homework, drove the kids to and from school, and was present while mom was at work. As a nanny, the parents worked from home so I was responsible for the child all day. I supervised her breakfast, lunch, created activities to help with motor functions and development, arts and crafts, outside playtime, singing/dancing, changed diapers, and created a genuine connection with the family and child. Until this day, this wonderful family sends me a postcard every holiday to let me know that they’re thinking of me. There’s no better feeling than that. I’m a very creative individual, i don’t believe in iPad all day or tv. I rather have children doing activities that’ll help their little brains’ growth, getting dirty and being kids (safely of course). I love being a caregiver and I’m truly great at what I do (and very qualified). Having different jobs in this industry and working with a spectrum of ages and personalities has helped me learn so much on how to not only be a better person but also a better role model for any kids I work with. A lot of my nanny skills were learned when I was an assistant teacher and where our job was to help kids hit their milestones for their appropriate ages. I have taken pieces of all of these opportunities/ experiences to become the best caregiver possible.
