Hi. My name is Ruhiyyih, but everyone calls me Ru. I'm a 25 yr old graduate of psychology, with extensive experience working with children. My qualifications and experience are as follows: I am a qualified rehabilitation practitioner through Medicaid. That's a fancy way of saying I worked with kids with emotional and behavior disorders to help them gain coping and life skills to better function. This is also where my psychology knowledge comes in handy. I have my CPR certification as well. Other experience includes copious amount of tutoring! Helping kids with difficult concepts, getting them to do their homework, targeting the ways they learn and making it easier for them, this is all my cup of tea. For 5 years during college I worked in tutoring an older crowd (high school and college students) in tutoring. Though they weren't young kids, it tought me a lot about the way Read more I explained material, and meeting people on their own level rather than where they are "expected" to be. I think this is one of the most important aspects when trying to explain information to kids. I've also worked with school-age kids who needed after school tutoring, and I have a lot of experience doing this as well. Now that I've explained all the boring stuff, I should mention why I love working with kids, because just because someone has the skills, doesn't make them a good nanny. For me, kids are more than a job. Each one is an investment in the future, and they always make me smile. As for more immediate, I just got back from being an au pair in Spain (live-in Nanny) for the last few months. The girls I looked after were sweet and the culture was amazing. I definitely miss it. I don't consider myself fluent in Spanish yet, but I can definitely hold a conversation, and if you'd like your kids to learn random Spanish vocabulary, I'm your girl. :) I choose to work with kids because I truly love doing it. I don't see myself having any of my own in the near future, but always being surrounded by them. I love the things they say, the ideas they have and their look of pride when they understand something that has been eluding them. I think I've found my place. :)
