Hello! My name is Jillian. And I am currently a Pre K teacher in Queens. A little about myself messing up to this: Starting from when I was a teenager, I knew I had a passion for working with children. I babysat regularly starting at the age of 13, and then when I went off to college, I pursued a degree in Elementary Education at SUNY Potsdam. I stayed at SUNY Potsdam for my Masters in Literacy Education. While completing my Masters degree, I worked at the daycare located on the college campus. This was a part time job, however I was able to experience all of the different age groups from Infant to School Age (up to 5th grade). Although it was very sad to leave the daycare, I graduated and immediately began a full time teaching job in White Plains af a school for children with Autism. I Read more loved working there, and grew such great bonds with both the teachers and the students. My dream was to live and teach in the city, so as hard as it was, I left that job and have been at my current school since then (4 years now).. this school involves a lot of hands-on/sensory based learning , along with many fine and gross motor activities. We are a child-centered/ play based school. My main goals with any children I work with are to have fun and be safe. Some other activities I enjoy doing with children I babysit for or at school include art, science experiments, cooking and baking. As of now I am looking for nights, weekends, after school (and eventually summer) care. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I look forward to hearing from you.
