My name is Ciera and I'm a recent graduate from the University of Florida with major in journalism and a minor in education. I have a tremendous background in child raising and education. Let me tell you a little bit about my experience with little guys and gals. First, my beautiful sister was born when I was 13 years old and she has grown up to become one of the brightest in her class along with developing a huge heart. Just entering my teen years, I helped my parents take care of her from day one, which means diaper changing, midnight bottle feeding and spit-up cleanup were apart of my every day life. Although she eventually grew out of those experiences and I became her best friend to play in the snow with, watch movies with, help her with reading, sing with and color with. She was my inspiration to Read more pursue a minor in education and work with children. When I moved to Florida, I missed her very much because she made me feel as though I had a purpose. So I sought a job at a school while I attended college classes. Eventually I landed my first job in education at Bunnell Elementary School where I worked with children aged 6 mos. to 5 years. We worked on developing motor skills, cognitive skills and of course duck duck goose skills. I made sure that all the children in my class kept up with developmental standards and worked patiently with those struggling. After being accepted into the University of Florida, I left Bunnell Elementary, and one of the most rewarding jobs I had ever had. Upon pursuing my degree in journalism I also wanted to continue my work with children, and so I decided to pick up education as my minor. As an education minor I was able to go into classrooms and volunteer as a teaching assistant. There I was able to actively combine my major and minor by helping children develop and improve their reading and writing skills. Again watching children succeed in school and making sure they enjoy learning is of upmost importance to me. I also think creative and active play is not encouraged as much as it should be, and as a sitter I strive to make sure all children learn and have fun. As a sitter I can offer exciting and imaginative activities for children to do all day long while also creating a learning and thoughtful environment for them to feel understood and secure. I have been working with and understanding children for 10 years now and I'd be happy to bring my skill set, creative mind and active spirit to your home.
