My passion for caregiving stems from my love for working with children and my own fascination with the world around me. My background in working with young people comes from not only being a caregiver in home settings, but working in classrooms and other educational environments for over 10 years. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Educations from Michigan State University and have been working primarily with students PK-8th grade, although I have worked with children of all ages. From this experience, I have had the opportunity to work with children of all backgrounds, personalities and learning types. As an educator and caretaker, I strive to support children’s curiosities about the world through guided observation and exploration in everyday life. I have also tutored, worked in a children’s museum, babysat, amongst many other jobs. I also have a background in painting from New York University and having studied Read more other visual arts over the years, including art history, film photography, colloidan photography and graphic design. I have a special dedication to interactive, thoughtful “hands-on” activities that create a discourse about the different possibilities in which we see the world. I am truly dedicated, hardworking, trustworthy, incredibly organized, tech-savvy and empathetic, along with many other benefits that come with being an educator and artist. I have spent the last few years integrating my ideas and understandings from my background with that of New York in preparation for working with children who are from this area or have moved here from somewhere else. I moved to New York from Michigan five years ago and feel very at home. I am currently working on obtaining a teaching certificate here in New York and working toward getting a Bachelor of Fine Arts.
