Meet Jillian

I am a current dance and movement teacher specializing in early childhood education. Inside the studio, I teach ballet, creative movement, and toddler movement. Outside the studio, I have taught dance after school at PS 20, Compass Charter School, with the JCC preschool in Brooklyn, and workshops about science and movement with PS 11! I have over 100 movers and shakers between 18 months to 10 years each year! Prior to teaching, I worked as a Manager of Front Desk Operations at Mark Morris Dance Group (MMDG). While working administratively at Mark Morris Dance Group, I discovered nothing makes me happier than spending my time with little ones. I love exploring, questioning, creating, learning, and loving with them. I have studied early childhood development in college (University of Hartford) and often take classes and seminars on early childhood development. Nothing is more rewarding than discovering and learning with children from Read more just a few months old to middle school age. They are such extraordinary explorers and curious friends! Every moment with a child is a chance to learn and grow. I am an excellent storyteller and can create an imaginary world filled with adventures out of nothing. Something I value most with teaching children is having dialogue together. Discussing and conversing are vital elements of my sitting. I am the child whisperer on diverting and subduing meltdowns and the queen at getting picky eaters to eat their broccoli. My main priorities as a sitter are to instill discipline and spark creativity, self-expression, confidence, and joy! Most importantly, creating an open line of communication with the parents is vital to my sitting.
