Hi! My name is Lauren, I’m a nanny with 10+ years of experience with kids ranging from 1-9 years old. I’ve spent the last 5 years with the same family, which has been unbelievably rewarding and helped develop my childcare philosophy. I’m passionate about helping raise compassionate, confident little people, and providing kids with the structure and space to share their feelings and ideas freely. I am not a “because I said so” kind of sitter! I love curious, challenging kids and believe in honest communication and explanation whenever possible. I’m incredibly patient and level-headed. I will never resort to yelling or shaming. I believe kids deserve dignity, even and especially in their most difficult moments. More often than not, I find there are ways to navigate children through frustrating tasks or transitions with humor and grace. Past employers have described me as reasonable, firm but fair, patient, supportive, and giving. I’m an artist and performer with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre, and I love working in childcare because it allows me to be creative, active, and silly, and no day is the same! I also come from a long line of educators and have worked as an English and SAT tutor. I’m well equipped for homework help and love finding creative ways to help kids grasp difficult concepts- I’m a firm believer that if you can’t explain something to a child, you don’t fully understand it yourself! The vast majority of my experience has been with a sweet, sensitive, high-energy little boy who has kept me running, scooting, biking all over creation, enjoying time in the park, drawing, painting, reading, baking, and going on any number of adventures.
