Hello! My name is Laura Wojdyla. I am currently working full-time at a Children's Learning Center predominately in the Pre-K classroom as a Teacher's Assistant. However, I have recently been accepted to the Occupational Therapy Graduate program at Dominican College, therefore looking for other employment to better fit my weekend program schedule. I graduated from Siena College with a bachelor's in psychology and a focus in children's studies, and am continuing my education in the field of Occupational Therapy where I wish to work with children. I have about 9 years of experience working with children of all ages and caring for them. My most current position at the learning center started in the infant room (birth-2 years) and has progressed to the Pre-K room with children ages 3-5 years. I have used my education as well as experience to create a stimulating and comforting environment for all children as Read more well as develop age appropriate activities to encourage growth. While obtaining this position I have also completed 17 hours of state regulated Early Childhood training in the departments of: Child abuse, Preventing Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, Promoting Safe Sleeping, School Age Child Care, Obesity Prevention and nutrition, Early Intervention, Developing Appropriate Learning Environments for Infants and Toddlers, and Responding to Challenging Infant/Toddler Behavior. In the past I have obtained the position of counselor at a summer camp program for three consecutive years as well as babysat for many families around my neighborhood. I am also a certified lifeguard and have taught swimming lessons to children ages 1-12 years. Working with children has always been my area of interest and one that I find both rewarding and uplifting. I love games, arts and crafts, music, sports as well as outdoor activities!
