Hello! My name is Christina and I am a current graduate student in New York. For the summer I will be returning to my hometown in Virginia. I love nothing more than working with children and hope to continue this upcoming summer. A little bit about myself; I have been born and raised in Virginia my whole life. I just recently graduated from Christopher Newport University with my Bachelors of Arts in Psychology and am now pursuing my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology. Although I have traveled quite a bit with my schooling, I always make it back to Virginia for the summer. I enjoy the outdoors, traveling and exploring all parts of various cities, including my own! A few of my favorite hobbies are swimming, outdoor hikes with my dog, exercising and listening to music! I started working with children at 16 when I tutored a few kids (ages5-8) in Read more my neighborhood. I began working at YMCA Camp Thunderbird at the age of 18 as a camp counselor, working with children ages (4-8). My responsibilities as a camp counselor consisted of overseeing outdoor activities, facilitating camp games and working with groups of about 10-20 children. Last summer, I was promoted to Unit Director for the (6th-7th grade age group). I continued working at YMCA Camp Thunderbird on and off for five summers. When I was not working at YMCA Camp Thunderbird, I was heavily involved with student orientation at my alma mater, Christopher Newport University. In undergrad, I served as an AmeriCorps member for two years and worked with high school students (14-18years old). Three years of my undergraduate experience I also volunteered at Hampton Roads Family Partnership. While parents were taking classes, I oversaw their children who were of the ages (5months-4years old). I have also served as a YMCA youth soccer coach for girls and boys ages 4-5. Lastly, my senior year of undergrad I began working with the Boys and Girls Club as an afterschool coordinator. I worked with children from ages (5-18years old). My role as the after school coordinator consisted of tutoring after school, facilitating games, activities for afterschool and coordinating field trips. I am CPR certified, and although I have not worked as a nanny before, I have a myriad of experience working in child care. A few of my past roles have been working with YMCA Camp Thunderbird, Boys & Girls Club, AmeriCorps and Hampton Roads Family Partnership. I look forward to making this summer an amazing experience!
