Until recently, I didn't think that I could make a career out of my love for interacting with children. I tried various other routes but it always came back to the joy of working with children. I've worked with kids anywhere from 1.5 years old to high school kids in a number of ways and I adore it. I've been babysitting for years, but I think my best work was done on a larger scale; I worked as a camp counselor for three years and was also the Performing Arts Specialist (I have a Bachelor's in Theatre Studies and a minor in English). During that job, I organized games and activities for the entire camp to do, directed the camp in a musical and two talent shows (with kids from 2-13) and also lead my own group of about 6 youngsters for 8 hours a day as well. Then I Read more got the amazing opportunity to direct a children's production of a musical adaptation of Snow White that I wrote with kids from 5-18. The best feeling is having a group of about 24 kids give you a giant hug and tell you that you've taught them so much--and hearing a child's laugh as a big smile spreads across their little face. Did I mention I love kids? I can definitely play musical/theatre games with them to develop confidence, have fun, and get in touch with their feelings. I've also been a math and English tutor so I love to help with any and all academic work. I also was in sports for many years so I'd also love to go outside and play with them. I'm very dependable, energetic, and I have my own car so transportation will never be an issue.
