Hello! Greetings from Seattle WA. My name is Amber, and I'm new to the New York area, but have years of experience in childcare and child advocacy. I've had the wonderful privilege of working and advocating for kids of all ages; whether through babysitting, volunteering in my mom's kindergarten classroom, being a summer day camp councilor, or supporting policies that improve the livelihood of all children, These experiences have given me opportunities to continue my understanding of child development and has allowed me to find new and creative ways to keep kids learning and engaged. I am responsible, hardworking and have a passion for learning. I graduated from Seattle Pacific University with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology. Having a kindergarten teacher as a parent, I have worked with many 5 and 6 year olds over the years helping them grasp various school subjects such as numbers, phonics, reading and Read more writing. Although new to New York City's transit system, I'm very confident and great at navigating public transportation. Plus if need be, I do have a driver's license. I never want to stop growing and am always looking for ways to continue improving in whatever work I'm doing. I hope that the kids I work with will also foster a love for learning and the confidence to try new things. I'm also very committed to social justice and carry this value as I walk through life. I would love to leave kids with the notion that they too can make a difference in the world, and to find ways for them to do just that (age specific of course).
