I'm a musician by training, but for me, connecting with and nurturing children is also a calling. If you have multiples, four or more children, a kiddo with mild to moderate special needs, or any other situation that causes you to wrinkle up your nose when you mention you need a baby sitter and your friend recommends her 14-year-old neighbor, I'm your girl. I have a strong understanding of special needs including SPD and ADHD, problems unique to multiples including Twin Escalation Syndrome, and the many challenges of attending to a large mixed-age group of children. I have extensive experience dealing with all of these issues compassionately and effectively. And, of course, I'm child and infant CPR certified. My very favorite thing to do with kiddos is sing and make music. I also love reading and telling stories to younger kids, playing games together, spending time outside, and tutoring/helping with Read more homework (yep, I'm a nerd!). No matter the age of the child I'm working with, I respect them as a person and enjoy talking to them about their lives and learning more about them just as I would with a new grownup friend. I'm looking for a steady position nannying about 30 hours a week with one family--or 2 steady positions with 2 different families, about 15 hours a week each--for the 2015-2016 school year. After I move to Astoria on JULY 5TH, and until I lock that school year position down, I'm looking for any kind of childcare work (one-time date night, short term sub for nanny on vacation, etc.), and as much as I can schedule! I can't wait to hear from you.
