I am currently a nanny for a family with two children, a 7 yr old boy and a 3 yr old girl. I started taking care of children at 14 years old. I took care of twin girls everyday after school and on the weekends from the age of four months to the present, however now it is sporadic as they are getting older (8 years old). Within that family I also cared for their eldest son who at the time was 8 years old, I helped him with his homework everyday and gave him the meals the parents prepared. I worked with him until he was 13 years old. After high school I went away to Iona College for a year. I then went back home and obtained a job at a pre school for a year and a half. When I moved down to New York City I Read more was lucky enough to get an amazing position in a pre school for two years before I moved on. In my pre schools we focused so much on education and creativity because one cannot successfully go without the other! I also did yoga with my children every day, took them outside to learn about nature, played fun & educational games and activities, and lastly a lot of art. Working in the preschools really benefitted me because I learned how to care for each child in a very unique way and also teach them the right things to do when they were doing something wrong or something harmful to themselves or others in a nurturing way. As you may realIze already, children are my passion. I love working with them, teaching them and seeing how much their eager minds can grasp. I believe that each babysitter should be someone the children feel they can not only trust but rely on in many different aspects.
