Seven years ago I started babysitting a three year old girl with autism and no communication skills, but a passionate love for music of all kinds. As a part of my job I was to provide her with a musical outlet through dance and song, as well as swimming lessons as a part of her physical therapy. With my skill set and her needs I knew we would be a perfect match. Being a lifelong musician and someone that has always worked with kids, i've always had a strong interest in music therapy, but I had no clue how amazing of an experience it would be. To see a child go from seeming lost inside of themselvs to dancing and having fun like they should be, nearly brought me to an emotional response. Working with her over the years has been a learning experience for both of us alike that Read more can be amounted to no dollar value. Quality of life for children is priority regardless of if they have special needs or not. Now I know showing kids they can have fun no matter their circumstance, is my job. After I graduated, I started a part time metalsmith apprenticeship in East Hampton and I am hoping to continue to work in childcare. I own a small buisness working for myself as a metalsmith artist and I lead a band, those are things I will also be working towards in the near future
