I am looking for a full-time summer position. I can start end of June. I live in Carmel, NY but am willing to travel. I have my own car, as well. I received my Master's Degree for Elementary Education. I interned and student taught in Darien, CT. I taught in Kindergarten and absolutely loved it. I currently teach at an elementary school in Mahopac.  I've been working with children ever since I was 13, whether it was babysitting or working at a day camp. I worked at a day camp for 3 summers and worked with children ages 5 & 6. I hope to teach Kindergarten or 1st grade in the future. I've worked for several different types of families in the past. I've babysat for as many as 5 kids at once, ranging from infant to 12 years old (I've also had experience with pets of all kinds!). I have many younger cousins and 2 younger siblings that I've babysat for and that has provided me with additional experience! I love doing arts and crafts and being outdoors with the kids. When I was 12 years old I started helping my aunt with my little cousins and from there my experience with children grew. In high school I organized birthday parties for small children at a sports center. From there I worked at a day care teaching children ranging in age from infancy to school age, responsible for four to 10 children at a time. It was there that I fell in love with a family and became their nanny full time. At the time I started with them they had three children, ages 6 months, 2 and 4. With the family I was responsible for organizing their daily activities, driving them to preschool, activities, appointments, play dates, etc. Two years later I rose to the challenge as the family had another child. Hi my name is Marissa Mapes. I started child care when I was about 15 years old, I'll be 20 this year. I started off babysitting for family when my cousin had her two boys. I helped out as much as she needed me. Then I started babysitting neighbors animals and then moved and started child babysitting. She has special needs and soon started school. When I graduated highschool. That next school year I started college and also babysitting in the mornings for 5 kids ages 5-13. Putting them on the bus, making sure they ate and had lunch.
