I have gained experience working with children in a variety of contexts. No matter the context, building social skills plays a fundamental role in my approach to caretaking. In the school setting, this could be demonstrated through open class discussions and bolstering self-confidence; in the camp setting, leading interactive and collaborative activities; in the home setting, sharing with siblings and positive reinforcement. To me, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing how I have guided and given a child the tools to grow. In my latest student teaching experiences, I have practiced incorporating my value on social-emotional learning while still meeting academic demands. I am able to maintain multiple, ongoing tasks, which is fundamental in caretaking. My genuine love of working with kids and my respect for their families motivate me to take these responsibilities and surpass expectations.
