I am a recently retired Special Education Teacher who worked with preschool children with special needs for 19 years. Working with children is very rewarding for me and I'd like to work part time employment with a family with one child who would benefit from my background . My educational philosophy for young children is "play based" meaning that I engage, support and guide children during play activities to enhance their social-emotional, cognitive, communication and motor skills. Some of my favorite activities with children include exploring nature and the outdoors, arts and crafts, cooking, singing and music, reading books as well as games and puzzles. While I am old enough to be retired, I am fit and active and enjoy hiking, kayaking, bike and downhill skiing.
