Hi! My name is Abby and I am a recent graduate of Kent State University with an BS in Human Development & Family Studies with a concentration in Family Life Education. I am currently applying to graduate schools to pursue my dreams of becoming a Child Life Specialist. In addition to my passion for the youth I also love to be outside, do yoga, read and continuously learn about new things. I started babysitting when I was 13 years old for family members. Since then I have nannied for various families with children ranging between the ages of infants to 12 years old. I have worked as a Lead Toddler Teacher at two childcare centers and also as a Teaching Assistant in a preschool aged classroom at the Kent State University Child Development Center. For 3 years during my college career I held the position of the Hospital Relations Chair Read more for KSU Flash-A-Thon, Kent State's Dance Marathon that supports the Hematology/Oncology Department at Akron Children's Hospital. This position allowed me to work alongside hospital staff and also become a Child Life Volunteer on the floor. Volunteering introduced me to many families battling childhood cancer or blood disorders and I was able to build therapeutic relationships with many. I conducted my internship at Double H Ranch, a SeriousFun Camp which serves children ages 6 - 16 living with a serious illness and am currently spending my second summer at Double H as a Cabin Counselor. I am trained and certified in CPR, AED and First Aid. I love children and am eager to find the perfect family to entrust in my skills and allow me to help their children grow as long as I am able to work with them.
