In addition, I also have experience with individuals with special needs. I was raised by my grandparents who ran a foster care business for special needs individuals in our home. Being raised alongside them gave me a much more comprehensive and empathetic view of the special needs community and those in it. My goal as a caregiver is to facilitate an environment where the child feels seen, safe, and welcome to express themselves freely. That does not change if a child has special needs or not. Rather, I just approach those kids with a bit more patience and understanding in mind. All this being said, I also look to have fun! I worked at a childcare for 10 yrs and then began my 10+ yrs at Bedford Public Schools working with all age children and special needs children. I retired from the public schools in 2018.
