My name is Kaitlyn Thompson and I am nineteen years old. I graduated from Boardman High School with a 3.5 GPA in 2013, since then I have worked various childcare jobs. Right out of high school I was employed at A Sense of Wonder in Howland, and I worked with the kindergarteners in the afternoon. I sometimes had twelve kids at a time. I also gained experience with children that had special needs, which was very important to me because at the time I was going to major in Special Education. I was responsible for making sure I had a lesson plan for 1:00-6:00 each weekday. I left because I moved to Leesburg, Virginia for a private nanny position. I worked for my mom’s sister for almost half a year. She has two children, five and seven. I worked Monday-Friday, and I was responsible for them from the time they Read more woke up, until they went to sleep. I would wake up six, prepare breakfast and pack their lunches, take them to school, clean the house, do the laundry, prep dinner, and then pick them up. By eight o'clock, I had them bathed and we would be doing story time before bedtime. I moved home so I could start my first semester at YSU. After I moved home I started working at Hopes and Dreams in Austintown, this is where I gained experience with children from 6 weeks-4 years old. I usually worked midnights, my shifts were around 6 pm- 3 am, and I learned a lot about infants and toddlers. I left Hopes and Dreams because my grandfather was having medical issues that are now resolved. I have also worked multiple babysitting jobs. In addition to childcare, I have volunteer as often as I can at local kennels, I worked at kennels in Virginia on the weekend and I also volunteered at a wildlife rehabilitation center for many years. I love animals. Some hobbies of mine include crafts, music, reading, writing, studying, and exercising. I love being outdoors and I love learning new things each day. When I was a live-in nanny the main thing I learned was that the children taught me just as much as I taught them.
