(2-3 days a week) Experience includes working as an English Assistant at a primary school in Spain, coaching gymnastics to children ages 3-12 at Oregon Gymnastics Academy, and over five years of private childcare for kids ages 4 months-11 years. I have a musical background and enjoy musical activities, crafts, reading, and being outside with children. I'm Carmen, and since I was a child, I've loved interacting with children of all ages, from babies to teenagers. I love seeing how they learn, how they observe, and how they develop their skills.I've learned to be patient and understand how each child is different, how they express their needs, and how they learn. I've taken courses on positive discipline and assertive communication. I've had the opportunity to work with children of all ages, and always providing structure in their activities and giving them time to play, learn, play sports, and discover their interests together is something I love and makes me give my best. I have been a nanny/babysitter for as long as I can remember! I absolutely love kids and teaching them fun new things and sports! Other then nannying I have coached volleyball for the past 8 years anywhere from 6th grade to High School Varsity. I have my bachelors degree in Psychology with a specialization in child development and after that plans of getting a Master in mental health counseling for school aged kids! My past experiences make me very versatile so I am open to anything that you might need help with from young kiddos needing bottle feeding, sleep training, food transitioning, potty training, etc. And for older kids I’m happy to give homework help, create and implement structured days, prepare meals, and clean up. A couple random things I honestly love are running errands/grocery shopping and doing laundry. I understand life is unpredictable so I’m happy to provide sick care! The most kids I've watched at once not including playdates was 4 at a time and it was a blast. I would say that I am a very flexible and understanding person and am always happy to to grow and change with your family’s needs. I think it's very important to build a good relationship with the kid(s) and parent(s) so it's a nice experience for everyone. I love getting outside and playing and even going on day trips to explore! I am fully vaccinated and have my own car (with 7 seats) including two toddler car seats and a clean driving record! I used to be an AuPair in Beaverton for 1 year and 7 months. I watched three kids: a 10 months-old, a 3.5 years-old and a 5.5 years-old. I was in charge of waking them up, preparing meals, make sure they brush their teeth, preparing baby’s bottle, changing diapers, dropping off and picking up the older ones to school, takings them to the park to play, setting playdates with friends, to the library, potty training, teaching the little one to speak (I used to speak to him Spanish and he understood very well!) and to walk. It was an amazing experience! I left and dedicated myself to my career (I got a bachelors degree in Mass communication) around the world: Mexico, Venezuela and Spain. I just came back to the US and my previous host family received me to stay while I set everything up here. The younger kid is now 7 years-old!
