My interests for wanting to become involved as a nanny originate from my extensive and outstanding ability to be compassionate and nurturing towards all individuals. With over three years of experience working with children from all socioeconomic backgrounds, I understand the importance of communicating and teaching effectively so that social, emotional and cognitive growth is optimized. I've just recently graduated from George Fox University's MAT Program (April 2017), with licenses in Elementary Education and Reading Intervention. I completed my 6 month student teaching practicum 1st grade. While at a local elementary school in the Hillsboro School District, as a Special Education Assistant II, I was responsible for roughly 10 students where I tracked and participated in the improvement and development of their Individual Education Plans. I implemented various coping strategies as well as stress reducing activities in order to allow each student to advance. I assisted with grades 1-6 working Read more with IEP students one-on-one and also in small groups; my work was very much independent yet apart of the overall goals within the Educational Resource Center. I collaborated with other assistants, supervisory staff and teachers to ensure that success by the student was achievable within the context of their IEP’s and altered if the task(s) and/or goal(s) were unobtainable. Providing sufficient developmental tools to scaffold a child’s learning experience is crucial when implementing the teachings and methods presented by educational pioneers such as Waldorf, Piaget, Vygotsky and Montessori. Children rely on stimulating objects provided by nature and people interaction for healthy maturation in cognitive, emotional and social aspects. Allowing children to discover their own surroundings is only possible through providing size appropriate materials, workshops and assistance (e.g. educational scaffolding). With these sensatory stimuli, children can begin to interpret language and environmental objects to illuminate their own individual awareness. My experience and acumen as a student and child care provider has enhanced my ability to assess childrens inquiries in order to best address their needs; I always ensure that prompt and efficient actions are taken to rectify a situation that opposes the safety of the student.
