Hi! I started babysitting as a teenager for family/friends, then in highschool I started taking child education classes and started working hands on with preschool aged children. Right after I graduated I got a job at a daycare as the teacher's aide. After a couple years I became the lead teacher for the Pre-K classroom and got my CDA certification. Now I am currently taking early childhood education classes at RCC to further my knowledge on child development. In the past 6+ years I have been working with children, I have been with all different age groups and learning capabilities.

I started caring for children by babysitting at age 14. That continued on over the years into teaching swim lessons, leading YMCA programs, nannying, and working in other licensed child care programs. I have experience with children a few months to 11 years old. I have also earned 9 credits in Early Childhood Education. In child care, I strive to foster growth, fun, and caring connection. My work with children has varied over the years. In the past I spent time babysitting between a few close families as more of a side job. I spent several years in high end kitchens training to create some of the best dishes in the valley. Fine dining has allowed me to develop a serious passion for quality foods, centralizing around local, simple ingredients. This is a skill I greatly enjoy combining with childcare, as I believe children thrive when given quality nutrients. I’ve spent the last school year working at The Medford Montessori School with 4th and 5th graders in an educational cooking program. The focus of Montessori is to give children the room and tools to become independent. This experience opened my eyes to the capabilities of young children when given a suitable environment. Throughout this summer I have been working with 15-25 children each week, ages 4-10, at our Montessori inspired Farm Camp. A typical day consists of a long walk around the farm, a hands on class where the children learn to bake or create a cold snack all by themselves, a craft, and guided free play with intermittent group games. While I have great appreciation for the excitement of a large group, my recent desire is to be able to routinely build upon a relationship with a few children from one family. My core beliefs are a combination of that of Montessori and Waldorf education, with my own personal emphasis on nature. I greatly enjoy spending time outside, with animals, and in the kitchen. I'm 38 years old and was an infant and special needs nanny in Portland for many years before returning to southern Oregon to open my own business which has subsequently closed. My oldest is in college at SOU, my stepson is 9 and is my weekend buddy. I'm comfortable with all aspects of infant and child care.
