Hello! My name is Sam Grimes (he/him) and I am a 21 year old student at Portland State University. I am double majoring in psychology and gender studies. I have over 5 years of experience in childcare. I worked for 3 years at an after school care for up to 50 kids at a time, grades K-8. At the beginning of the pandemic, I began nannying for a then 10 month old baby (now 2.5yo). I worked almost daily with him for about a year, but I still babysit for him on occasion. Currently I nanny on Tuesdays and Fridays for 3 kids, a 6yo and twin 2yo's, and I will likely remain with them on those days through the end of summer. I also watch my cousins, now ages 2 and 4, on Wednesday afternoons. Lastly, I babysit on occasion for a now 1 year old baby. I take Read more a positive approach to working with kids. I never raise my voice with children and I make sure to communicate rules/boundaries in ways they are able to understand. I believe in maintaining an inclusive (LGBTQIA+ positive) environment where children are free to express themselves however they wish! I build relationships with the kids I work with and I am always willing to go the extra mile for them! Working with children has been a great privilege in my life, and I just love putting a smile on their faces!
