I have been nannying/babysitting for 10 years. I believe in child led learning. By making learning fun, the child is more likely to retain the information. I am very hands on. The types of activities we do are: hammering pegs into zucchini, building forts, painting, exploring nature, or stringing beads. My daughter (4.5) was really in to Frozen, and I was able to teach her based around her interest: we learned about strong female leaders, castles, society structures (lords, ladies, knights) and the aurora borealis. I believe in homesteading, and giving children the confidence to do it on their own. I practice attachment parenting. Example: if a child is having a hard day, I come down to their level, validate their feelings, stay with them and be present. I say things like "its okay to have big feelings, mama has them too, I will not leave you, you are safe". Read more We are a TV free home, so each day we are doing something different. We do have a routine (craft day: Tuesday, homesteading: Wednesday). I nanny as early as 6 months. I teach elimination communication (potty training babies) and sign language. I have also taken CPR classes.If it is a nice day, you can find us outside! I believe in community. It is my job to make children feel safe and loved and heard, AND to know how and when to help others.
