Hi Lovely Families! I'm Courtney and I have been working in childcare for 13 years. I have professionally cared for children ranging from premature newborns that are a few days old to teenagers. I have extensive experience working with infant, toddler and school age multiples (twins/triplets) and have worked as a night nanny for many families. I attended college as a child development/sociology major where I obtained an abundance of knowledge, as well as a great respect for the field. During school, I studied many different childcare approaches and/or environments to fully understand and support each parenting style to the best of my abilities. These approaches and environments include; RIE, Reggio Emilia, Waldorf/Montessori schools etc. Currently, I am working toward becoming a Certified Newborn Care Specialist and a Postpartum Doula. I believe in staying up-to-date on all things childcare, so I am constantly furthering my education. I have a very Read more gentle approach to childcare, always empathizing with the child's needs and focusing on safety. I encourage children to follow their passions and explore the world in front of them. I enjoy assisting them by adding in my creativity, positive outlook and natural love and understanding. Being a full-time nanny, I am constantly thinking of new games, activities or crafts for the kiddos to do. I live and breathe childcare and am focused on the mindset of bettering our youth. Outside of Sittercity (I also work for a pdx nanny agency) you can find me homesteading! I have two dogs, five chickens, a veggie garden and an RV renovation that keep me occupied. I live a very humble, creative life on my small farm in NW Portland. I love to cook meals from scratch (I could do this all day!), read, embroider and clean. I take pride and accomplishment from my happy home. Above all, I truly love kiddos!! My times being a nanny and babysitting are something I wouldn't change for the world. I find pure joy in the smile a baby gets when they see you walk in the room or the look a child gives you when they found an item on our treasure hunt. I feel honored to be able to work with these amazing tiny humans that teach me more about life everyday!
